It's family tradition for us to spend July 4th at Vernon Worthen park, first in the morning when all the booths and games are up and there's watermelon juice to enjoy (this year we had fun with a new photo booth), to then have KFC for lunch, (we chose to take it home because it was pretty hot and humid, it rained that night), and then to go back to the park at dinner for fireworks and glow-in-the-dark sticks. (The fireworks were great and the rain stopped just for them). It's been a long time since I've been able to have a good and proper small town Fourth of July and since it's my favorite holiday, as weird as that sounds, I absolutely loved it. There's just something about summer that makes everything better. And watermelon. : )
